Homestay at Kaluk & Rinchenpong, Sikkim
Homestay is a tourism facility that provides an opportunity for tourist to stay at a local family house and be a part of their daily lives against some payment.
The homestay at Rinchenpong & Kaluk are run and managed by individual house owners who have undergone professional training in running Homestay from the State Institute of Capacity Building, Karfectar.
What can you do in a homestay?
During your stay at homestay there are plenty of rural village activities you can get involved in such as:
- Ploughing the fields
- Village walks
- Preparing local cuisines
- Day walk to nearby monasteries & temples
- Hike to the forest & learn about the medicinal plants
- Milk the cows & learn to prepare butter
- Visit the vegetable garden & plant vegetables
- Explore the surrounding farms & forest
- Collect fodder for cattle & feed them
- Participate in cultural dances
- Learn to play traditional musical instrument like dhol, madal etc
- Listen to old folk tales from villagers
- Many more village activities exists & you can participate in any of your choice.
Homestay Tariff
A stay at one of the village homestay will cost Rs 1500/- per person which includes accommodation with 3 organic meals. The trip cost also includes village walk to the nearby village & participating in village activities. Nearby sightseeing trips arranged will cost extra as per the charges.
